Hey Salty,
Since you have an actual BD player and a copy of this film, could you please confirm for me whether or not the Anchor Bay Halloween BD has a mono track?

Thanks in advance.

I received my copy the other day and there's no mention of mono on the case. The cases of the Dawn and Day of the Dead BDs do list mono though.

Cool, Universal Soldier. Definitely a guilty pleasure of mine.

Angel Heart was decent on paper, but I found it really dull.

Thanks Salty.

I e-mailed the guy who runs the BD Region Info page telling him my response from the Reservoir Dogs and 12 Monkey's studios (both according to them Region B) and his response was interesting:
The Concorde answer is pretty weird, seeing as all their releases have
been region free. Even 12 Monkeys have been confirmed region free by
several sources.
I guess we can ignore Concorde's reply then. 12 Monkey HD-DVD/BD is still bloody expensive though and as such I'd still get the USA HD-DVD.

Was in Zavvi today and had a look at the AVP 2 BD.i see it contains only the 89 minute cut while the 2-disc SD gets the 96 minute version.the usa disc gets both cuts.the film's but that's not the point, fox shortchange the uk again.

It's especially confusing when the cover says: "Not seen at cinemas - More action, more terror"

Presumably it means the deleted scenes.

Thanks Tiger. Are they any good price wise? They look expensive to me.

From their website, on all HD-DVD listings:
"This DVD is region 12. This means that it will only play on DVD players capable of playing discs from this region."
What!

Well you looked, obviously you can see they are a joke site with joke prices.

£19.99 standard for most    you have to be swimming in cash to pay from a company like that.

Starship Troopers - Sony US BD, partial specs.

The director's commentary alone should make it a better buy than the Euro Disney release (unless it only has lossy audio or some such rubbish, but that's highly doubtful.)

Starship Troopers The specs listed before on other sites were more complete than them, but hell no way they will miss off all extras when they are available, unless they want us to double dip! the cast commentary is esspecially fun.

Its a no brainer for me, but I am waiting for a review I think, just to see if it beats the UK Blu Ray picture wise, which should not be to hard as while it was great, was not exactly remastered and cleaned up etc.. not long to go and I may take the plunge and get part 3 while I am at it, surley it has to be ok  please let it be!

I would not rent anything ever, I refuse to when I can download it, if you like it buy it, if you dont then they never deserved your cash in the first place :D

I did not mind Starship Troopers 2 as much as others (its far from good, but not that bad), so surley part 3 with a slightly better cast of farmiliar faces, budget and director has to be better :D

and Power Armour for gods sake! :D http://www.starshiptroopers3.net/

Whilst i can appreciate the price might be a little too rich for you, can i ask where the basis of your opinion that they are a joke site/company comes from? :?:

That fact they sell discs at stupid prices = a Joke site.

Greedy pigs.

Somone who pays £17.99 for the standard dvd of Rambo for instance (or many new standard releases), when I can get the HD version even for £12 and the standard dvd even less, well you have to be stupid to shop there. That or have so much cash you do not care how you throw cash away down the drain.

The thing is you are not guarenteed to get it before any other company, same as other over priced sites who sometimes get them early and sometimes dont at all, other companies beat them getting them early to you for far far less cash, so your paying that extra for nothing.

Not many times at all, 2 times off hand in the last few years, both for cheap TV shows (Lost was one of em) which both were a shamble if they suposed to get them out early. One I got well over 1 week after release and the Lost set I think it was nearly 1 month! I ended up canning the order. But reading on forums tells me more than I need to know anyway, so I dont need to have used them anyway.

and as for any other company cheaper who can get them earlier. I am not even sure if you are serious or not. Even amazon.com have got me discs a week before release before as have many others who are all cheaper than them insane prices.
Try Tower.com far cheaper prices and if your lucky a few days shipping at most.

If you are paying to get them early from dvdslimited, show me where they say they will, as they dont. All they say "Remember, nobody is faster than us on those big new releases!" so if they are do they give you all your cash back? not a chance in hell they will.

Well bugger me.i've been using amazon.com for nigh on 10 years and i've NEVER had a pre-order shipped to me before release date let alone receive anything early from them! i've got the Rambo box ordered from them.it's out tomorrow.have i had a shipping notice?have i fuck! you are the only person i've ever heard of receiving items before release day from Amazon.com! i've used dvdslimited 6-7 times and with one exception (Rambo which still came a week early) i've received everything next day recorded delivery. yes they are expensive but no-one is putting a gun to anyone's head making them pay it ! they also take paypal as well which is perfect for me as i usually have cash in there collecting dust.

Of course Romero is right they're expensive and their pricing is cheeky but at the end of the day let people pay what they want to, without fear of being belittled for it.

I wouldn't pay their prices but I can appreciate people wanting to get a title early.
romerojpg wrote:Rambo 4: when I can get the HD version even for £12
Where? I can only find it for £13.50 from Tower.com or about £15 elsewhere. The UK BD is up for £15 so I don't think you mean Quidco discounts.

I am genuinely keen to buy it, before you presume otherwise ;). I'm waiting to read reviews of the Sony BD to compare which is best (USA or UK) but once known I'll be getting it for sure. It's the best action film in years, IMO.
