I don't have figures to debate that but I find it hard to believe. I think we live in different worlds though so maybe by your standards... None of my family is better off put it that way.
You reckon most people are working class?
Yes. Or under class.
Markgway wrote:I was copying how you spelt it ;)
I would never misspell Tory as "Torie" (at least not intentionally).
Personally I can. He was so determined to get in and had no competition, why? Because everyone was scared of him.
He's about as scary as a squashed cabbage and about as competant too. He's not PM material. You're right about a lack of any clear competetion, because the Labour cabinet is full of useless arseholes like Des Browne, Harriet Harman, et al, but I think David Milliband might be eyeing up the job over the next 18 months (he couldn't be any worse...could he?)
I think most people dislike him but not his party.
Nah. The whole of New Labour is rotten to the core. Bring back Neil Kinnock, lol.
They dislike the Tory party.
If by "they" you mean Labour supporters, then obviously... But sometimes a change stirs things up a bit. Didn't work in Labour's case, since the last ten years have seen Britain go down the fucking toilet, but still...
There isn't any decent party left. The Liberal Democrats are the only decent party left
:D
but like you say they don't do anything and have no strength whatsoever.
If by decent you mean uncorrupted I'll go with that... but some of their values are seriously unworkable (and undesirable). I don't trust lefties and more than I do righties... so like you I've no idea who to vote for?

We don't "that" much, if at all. Both of us can afford Broadband, both our parents own their own houses. I presume yours do? Things aren't really "that" different.
Markgway wrote:He's about as scary as a squashed cabbage and about as competent too.
He's certainly not competent but I do think when Tony stepped down no one else in the cabinet dared stand against Brown. He wanted to be in power 10 years earlier remember.

It was a complete joke. He's ONLY prime minister because literally no one stood in his way. At least when a leader is normally voted in they're not prime minister and still have to prove themselves at election time.
Markgway wrote:He's not PM material, but I think David Milliband might be eyeing up the job over the next 18 months (he couldn't be any worse...could he?)
Agreed he's not PM material. I wouldn't be surprised if David Milliband did try to be PM but I think Gordon Brown ultimately will be at the next general election. If Milliband was PM he'd have such a short space of time to prove himself.

My feeling is people have had enough of Labour and especially Brown, and David Cameron will be our next PM.
Markgway wrote:Nah. The whole of New Labour is rotten to the core.
Agreed but that doesn't mean people want The Conservatives, although I now suspect they'll win.
If by "they" you mean Labour supporters, then obviously...
No I meant the general population.

I'd disagree with you there but we've been over why before.

Oops that came out wrong. I meant:

Thankfully, we don't have to decide yet :D.

My parents pay for the broadband - I just live with them. And we don't even live in a house. It's a tiny cramped flat about the size of most middle class hom owner's kitchens. You know the poor sods that are getting screwed over by Brown's scrapping of the 10p tax? Say hello!
He's certainly not competent but I do think when Tony stepped down no one else in the cabinet dared stand against Brown. He wanted to be in power 10 years earlier remember.
He was such an egotist about it I think everyone assumed he knew what he was doing. If they knew then.....
If Milliband was PM he'd have such a short space of time to prove himself.
But the problem for Labour is that Brown WILL LOSE. So they might try something radical out of desperation.
My feeling is people have had enough of Labour and especially Brown, and David Cameron will be our next PM.
I'd say that's very likely.
No I meant the general population.
If the general population hated The Conservatives then where are the votes coming from? I'm talking about England, not Scotland, where the Tories are hated.
'd disagree with you there but we've been over why before.
Like I said: different worlds..... but for us Britain was a better place 11 years ago. If you're happier now that's good fortune.

I'm just going by the News so probably not totally accurate but many older folk (in England) still remember what Maggie did.

I'd say the votes are "against labour" not "for Conservatives". The result is of course still the same.

I'm not sure most would agree with that. Labour won with a landslide of Conservative resentment. It goes around in circles.

I still say that's way, way too strong. Different worlds would be you and I compared with most people living in Africa ;)

Sure, she did negative things, no one is denying that, but if it wasn't for her my parents would still be renting their council flat. Good and bad. Labour raised the minimum wage (though it's still too low). Never black and white.

Yeah, but after 11 mostly disasterous years the UK needs a change - if only to shake Labour into a new era. The Conservatives probably deserve a chance as they left the country in a better state than Labour will. If they fuck-up then Labour will have something to work with. But things can't go on as they are. Society has just gone tits up AFAIC.

Always in circles. People just wanted something fresh and Blair seemed like the new face of politics. The same reason why Labour will soon be out and The Tories back in. People now resent Labour.
I still say that's way, way too strong. Different worlds would be you and I compared with most people living in Africa ;)
Lol, maybe. But you'd get a shock if you lived in my neighbourhood, mate.

Interestingly you keep saying that but so many people seem to remember what Maggie did not with happiness but anger.
People just wanted something fresh and Blair seemed like the new face of politics.
If the Conservatives had won last time I suspect people would dislike Labour a lot less. It's their own fault for picking such a pathetic leader. I'm no Tory fan but you have to give it to David Cameron.
But you'd get a shock if you lived in my neighbourhood, mate.
Fair enough.

Crikey you called me mate :D

I do think you're obsessed with male backsides, the amount you go on about them.

I'll move this, as no one is ever going to spot it otherwise:

Right time to bring this thread back on topic :D -

Terminator 2: HD-DVD - £8.19 Delivered:

http://www.blahdvd.com/blah/HD_Product. ... MP744HD-4U

It's over £10 elsewhere and will probably go OOP soon, like other Studio Canal HD-DVDs.

Thanks Salty.

I wonder what happened to the £2-4 massive DVD sales we used to see and we all used to go mad over. I miss those.

They weren't the only one though but yes largely so. It's annoying they STILL don't sell HD Discs.

You'd think they could've made a packet out of the recent HD-DVD sales or cheaper pricing on BDs. I'm sure CD WOW could beat what DDDHouse and the like charge, plus USA/UK BDs too. I've not bought from CD WOW for months, because of this but used to use them every month without fail.

I guess because I don't have an axe to grind... but every government does good and bad... I hate the way Thatcher privatised everything which paved the way for Britain becoming a third rate manufacturing pitstop... but that doesn't mean there wasn't good...
If the Conservatives had one last time I suspect people would dislike Labour a lot less.
Very possible.

From that Axel offer I spotted The Pianist: Canadian 2 Disc SE. It's a lovely looking set but annoyingly it PAL to NTSC. I used to own it and it looks rubbish. The R1 SE is much better looking.

- The voucher can be redeemed against ANY item in our store.
