A Blu-ray mastered in 1080P from the Special Edition transfer is also due out so some may want to get that version. It contains all the special features from the Special Edition DVD.

The SE looks much better. It's a pity the director commentary is oddly missing though.

I wonder how the R1 SE compares against the Non-R1 Original DVDs? It's always been Anamorphic outside of R1. I imagine it's better. There is also a UK R2 SE.

It's impressive the SE is 2 Discs!

I'm seeing a huge amount of horizontal stretching on the SE.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

I hadn't noticed but do now. I also see cropping. I'm so pleased I don't spot these sorts of things when watching films on a TV.

I don't think the stretching is huge though, the SE still looks better.

Despite the slight cropping the SE is a big improvement.

Yeah, looks better aside from cropping (reissues tend to have the de-Oompa Lumpa filter on).

Some caps are slightly off, but I've got the R2 I could add in at some point (good call Brad).

These reissues miss out some stuff and it's annoying.

@ Salty, it seems it was originally due March 07 but got delayed to March 08.

What's a de-Oompa Lumpa filter?

In 'You Only Live Twice', the SE edition had everyone orange, where as in the UE, there's no colour left in the characters. I'm sure you know what an Oompa Loompa (sorry for spelling error) is.

This is what has happened here in the first comparison  .

The SE HKL 'Fist Of Fury' DVD - everyone looks like an Oompa Loompa. In the PE one, people have slightly more blushy cheeks.

That's brave of you to accuse Mark :| .

It isn't it :D . I wouldn't say accusing though, that is what he calls it.

The SE looks fine to me. I don't recall that being pink too.
