Have you met anyone famous?

Post by grim_tales »

As the title says... ;)

I ask because on Thursday I'm hopefully going to meet Tony Robinson at a book signing. :D
I know you identify him now as the bloke who does history/archeology shows but when I was a kid he was far more famous for his kids TV/entertainment work with classics like Maid Marian and Her Merry Men, Blood and Honey, Fat Tulip's Garden, Odysseus and many others.
Having said that I have watched the later programmes too. I love his enthusiasm :D
I wrote to him a coupla times (and got relplies), as far back as 1992, so looking forward to this :D

Well, I did meet Tony Robinson - he signed his book "The Worst Jobs In History" for me and I had a little chat with him and shook his hand :) He remembered I'd written to him (when I said who I was) and said I was probably the only person in the world to remember his interactive puzzle video "Qi: The Quest" (1993)! :D But it was a pleasure to meet one of my heroes, he was a really nice guy :)

:)

erm, sporty spice, frank bruno, Marilyn off home and away (6 years ago anyway:P), 2 of the guys from Time Bandits, Roger cook (cook report) and some weather girl :P all whilst working at the theatre during my student years, oh the wonders of washed up tv stars... Terry Pratchett at a pub opening :P

And yes, Tony Robinson is first and foremost Baldrick!!! I think people just dont make the connection these days... I must confess to going out of my way to watch all his history documentaries now

I remember him as Baldrick (just about) - maybe I was too young for Blackadder then.
I remember stuff like "Blood and Honey" "Odysseus" and "Maid Marian" in the 80's/90's best - they were ace :)
Do you remember them, Laev?
Also I loved his excellent cartoon series from the 90's (series about cartoons, not a cartoon) "Stay Tooned!" *groan* :D

About meeting famous people:

-I met Philip Kwok, Mark Dacascos, Samuel le Bihan and Vincent Cassel while they were shooting Brotherhood of the Wolf.
-I met Maggie Cheung by accident (She bumped into me, really :w00t: ).
-I met Quentin Tarantino (but I didn't understand a word of what he said, the guy talks wayyyy too fast).
-I met Luc Besson.
-I met Billy Boyd (Pippin from LOTR). Very nice guy but hard to understand (weird scottish accent).

That's about it, really. ;)

Hey wolf!

What was your name on the previous forum?

The project is doing well. We're still in major negotiations with a contract we are trying to brake. Lots of boring lawyer stuff.

But apart from that it is great when you can concentrate on the actual content of the film.
