Just a heads up that Amazon.com annual black friday deals start on Monday 22nd November.there were some cracking deals last year so it'll be worth checking day to day.interestingly for the first time ever the uk site is following suit with their own version there's bound to be a good deal or two knocking around.

Well done, Sam.
I knew Black Friday was Nov 26th, but I'd forgotten that the deals begin on the Monday before Thanksgiving.
Cheers for the reminder.

Re: Amazon Black Friday 2010
Thanks for the heads up. I hardly know anything about the whole black friday thing, cause the concept is unknown here in Holland. Hopefully I'll remember it next week.
Good news that co.uk is having offers, cause TBH after the whole .com/postoffice drama, I'm not too keen about ordering from the USA again...
Play.com is also having daily deals lately btw.

I'm hoping Big Trouble in Little China BD drops to $10-$12 again, I've been kicking myself for hesitating on purchasing that for almost a year now!

I got that a few months back for $9.99 (it's lowest price).Shingster wrote:I'm hoping Big Trouble in Little China BD drops to $10-$12 again, I've been kicking myself for hesitating on purchasing that for almost a year now!
The problem with Amazon offers is that they sometimes last only hours.

Yeah I ordered it late last night with Red Cliff I+II for £23.12p. Excluding shipping they're just 50p under the customs limit, so fingers crossed! Appreciate the heads up though!

Do you guys not get charged £1.50 by your bank when you buy from Amazon US?

It depends on the bank how much they charge. Even Nationwide now charge when not paying in Sterling . Just limit the amount of purchases and it's still worth it.

You have had it done to you?bradavon wrote:Even Nationwide now charge when not paying in Sterling .
As I am with Nationwide and have made many $ purchases and never been charged a penny, even last week done it and no charge still. Odd. They have also never informed me of it, and if they did charge me I would go in and ask for my cash back now, tell them to piss off and shut my account down instantly (like I did with Llyoyds TSB). No company gets my cash by charging me to use my own cash.

Re: Amazon Black Friday 2010
No not yet but I got a letter/leaflet through the post, it's also publicised in the branches too. It's already kicked in. I'm unsure if it's a charge to use your debit card to pay for goods not in sterling or a charge to take cash out abroad (or both). Reading this article it seems to just be the latter:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/pers ... tions.html
There looks to be other options, if you get stung by Nationwide.

Balls! that's me more than Angry.
I refuse to pay a penny myself. I will be deeply looking into this shit good job you said as they have yet to say a word to me! a few months notice from them would have been good.
The amount of orders I put in around the world it will be hundreds of pounds a year tossed down the drain for me, making something cheap like 50p instantly jump up in price to pounds! that's barmy.

Yes it now is automatic but I like to change currency as it is sometimes a bit cheaper I have found.IronMonkey wrote:Is there no way to pay in GBP on Amazon US?

Re: Amazon Black Friday 2010
You can pay in USD or GBP on Amazon.com (you choose on the final page) and just GBP on Amazon.co.uk. I currently choose to pay in USD though because Amazon's own exchange rate isn't as good. With charges, it could be cheaper though.
If it's cash advance charges (i.e - through an ATM), it won't affect online purchases.
Are you sure? I was even told in store "all customers will be notified". I think I got the letter in October.romerojpg wrote:Good job you said as they have yet to say a word to me!

Re: Amazon Black Friday 2010
I never ever go in stores anymore, they rarely send me anything in post anymore either. Unless it was hidden in among some badly worded leaflet I cannot see how I missed something like that. Odd situation as they have not informed me online yet either, as I do all my banking on there you would expect a BIG POPUP like they usually do with important things like this.

I'm pretty sure I saw it in one of those annoying popups too. This sale is good timing for me, I start a new job in 1-2 weeks. Exact date not known yet.

OK so I just managed to order Big Trouble In Little China BD in GBP for £10.70. I closed Firefox, reopened and revisited Amazon US. I added AVATAR 3-disc BD to my cart, then proceeded to the checkout, and now I don't get the option for switching to GBP - what gives?!

Lot of shit really.
Been generating widespread complaints with offers selling out as soon as the counter hits zero.
