Batman (1989) has not aged well at all. In fact it's aged worse than any other Batman film... including the 1966 parody! Now let's all do the Bat-Dance.

I personally find the Prince songs work well in creating the bizarre atmosphere of a movie that mixes the 1930s with the 1980s. But the Batdance video (a song that doesn't appear in the movie) seems like no-one told Prince the 1989 movie was going to be serious. It's astoundingly campy.

And don't get me started on Lemon Crush....

Aside from the campy videos I love the Prince Soundtrack. Especially the soundbites from the film edited into music.

Scandalous is lovely and I long to duet The Arms of Orion with a loved one.

Yes, its very 1989 but I love 1989 - I was three and got a Batman plush doll for my birthday!

You guys are nuts.

The Prince soundtrack is a steaming bowl of cat piss.

And at times the movie is so silly it's actually like the Adam West series.

Joker vs Batwing is awesome! Probably my fave scene in the movie!

Sure, they're joy buzzers, clown guns etc, but unlike the Adam West one, THEY KILL PEOPLE!!!!

I don't know who 'Mike' is... but for the record I, Mark, don't rate either Batman Forever or Batman & Robin higher than Batman; both are worse. The only one of the 'original' series I rate is Batman Returns.

No way is Batman Returns better than Batman. To me most of the time it didn't even feel that you are watching a Batman movie but just another random Burton-esque "look at me I'm so goth" movie. And I'm not really a big fan of those.

I love Burton's work throughout the 80s and 90s, but he's been rather patchy since then. Sweeney Todd was great though.

I don't like Tim Burton but I think Batman Returns is really good.

Batman Returns feels like an honest-to-God Tim Burton movie (like it or not) rather than the studio-compromised original, which coudn't decide whether it wanted to be a dark vigilante-revenge piece or a campy cartoon with a buffoonish villain.

I always felt the studio knew full well it wanted a dark Frank Millerish Batman. Burton is on record as saying he injected humour into it. Nichsolson...well, no-one could stop him!
