The General Film Discussion thread

Post by bradavon »

I figured we should have a general film related thread (except Asian obviously). Maybe make it sticky? I'll kick it off:

Four out of five tell The Godfather of all lies about seeing classic films:

Ha ha. I better watch Casablanca. I've seen the rest.

I don't see the point in lying, I always say if I haven't seen a film, and it's often because I have no interest in seeing it (e.g. The Godfather, Casablanca, and Taxi Driver).

You've no interest in seeing those films? Why?

Citizen Kane isn't mentioned and yes it was way ahead of it's time from a technical aesthetic but bloody hell it's boring. I'll never be seeing it again.

I don't like gangsters, I don't like romantic drama set during World War II, and I don't like taxi drivers.

I think that stupid Guardian poll is total and utter bullshit and anyone who takes that as fact is a mental ignorant fuck  never heard such shite in all my life. No one lies about what they have seen, moronic thing to even post I say.

2001 is a masterpiece. Truly outstanding. It took me two viewings to appreciate it. I was a teenager and crucially it was a 4:3 video the first time I saw it.

As usual not bothering to actually read the article hey Romero? It's a Love Film poll . They're the biggest film rental company in the country.

Of course they do. I've been around people who've done it.

Its just a survey/poll Romero, as with all polls it depends who's asked/how many.

There are LOTS of 'classics' I haven't seen yet. I did see Godfather although I'm not sure if I finished any of them...

I haven't seen Casablanca, I haven't seen 2001, I haven't seen Taxi Driver, and I haven't seen a whole bunch of others either. I sure as hell wouldn't lie about it though. What's the use!?

I DID see Requiem for a Dream though, and that sucked! :D

Didn't we have a topic once about which classics we haven't seen yet!? I believe we did.

Better?[/quote] How do you know they were lying? you've shown here on a couple of occasions that you've forgotten the end of films you've seen but no-one thinks you've lied about having seen them.
