Hungfist, I know how hard it is to dig up current info on the Pinky Era babes, I've spent countless hours searching through the internet for info. Although I did find a lot of rare pics from that era but I couldn't find any recent ones, well the only recent ones that I really found were only Reiko Oshida and Meiko Kaji. It seems to me that all of these actresses just simply vanished into thin air. Just like I was trying to find recent info on Yoko Ichiji and to no avail no recent pics or nothing the only thing I found out was that the last work she did was in 1978 for both a movie and a TV episode. It's the same for all of them I guess they just don't wanna be found or they just want to be left alone to stay out of the limelight.

Now about the modern Pinky films since Hungfist provided some links, I have nothing against them I think that they're great but for some reason they don't seem to be as good as anything from the 60',70's, and 80's in my opinion. And the camera work is just different I kinda prefer how the older movies looked too but hey that's just me haha.

well, the playground has changed. We don't have ero-action films done by major studios anymore. The real pinky violence is dead and buried. The closest to pinky violence we get nowadays is mini-budget erotic action films done by "amateurs". Films that look so terrible that I try to star far away from them. Films like Sukeban Hunters:
http://www.nipponcinema.com/blog/new-tr ... ls-movies/

(then of course we do have some great action and splatter films by directors like Yoshihiro Nishimura and Takanori Tsujimoto but those aren't pinky related)

However, if we depart from the action genre pink film hasn't lost all its bite. In the late 80's and early 90's we had the four devils of pink, Hisayasu Sato, Takahisa Zeze, and a few others, who "hijacked" the genre to express their political, personal, experimental etc. views. That's why the angered dirty old ojisan and porn theater owners started calling these little terrorists "devils". Their spirit is still alive (and so are they). While Japanese mainstream film industry produces sentimental romances and sickness stories for housewives, the good stuff is found in a) independent cinema and b) pink cinema.

Shinji Imaoka is one guy worth keeping an eye on. I've seen the nicely cinematographed, well acted and towards the end total wtf film Uncle's Paradise from him. He's currently working on a pink musical Underwater Love, cinematographed by none other than Christopher Doyle (who shot all the great Wong Kar Wai movies). Takahisa Zeze's A Gap in the Skin is another relatively good film - nicely cinematographed, quite original and good characters and story (mentally challenged woman trying help his niece, who's a murder suspect, to escape from the police against his will). I'm currently trying to go through more of Zeze's films.

Full Motion is an interesting label for semi-pink films that are usually slightly connected. I've seen Ryuichi Honda's My Wife's Shell and Watermelon. My Wife's Shell is about a radio DJ and live performer, a sort of Japanese loser-Elvis. Watermelon is about a woman who's so tired of people staring at her breasts that she decides to fall in love with the first man who doesn't. This man is played by Hiroshi Yamamoto, my favorite actor. Both films feature nice cinematography, good characters, and they take place in the same world, even though the characters and stories never really cross. But you can sometimes see characters from one film passing on the background in the other, and something that happens in one film will also affect the other one. Pretty cool, I thought.

Uncle's Paradise (this picture is perfect description of the film's harshly beautiful visual look, although it's not a screencap)

A Gap in the Skin (excelent dvd cover, and somewhat true to the film's style, too)

" Watermelon is about a woman who's so tired of people staring at her breasts that she decides to fall in love with the first man who doesn't. " That is actually quite hard to do haha.

Great info none the less Hungfist I really appreciate that you take the time to post such wonderful info. And I am really glad to be a member of this forum, because I don't really have anyone to talk to about these movies.

I talk (=write) a lot... usually to myself :D

Nice to have someone listening. It makes it instantly more rewarding :D

But that's what I always believed in. If I can provide genuine good info for a couple of members, that makes me happier than writing a review of some bullshit Hollywood hit and get a million readers who could get the same info from any other source.

To make it all the more unfair, I pretty much hate Asami, haha. I think she's the biggest over-actress on the planet, lol.

The only time I liked her was in Geisha Cop. Now, that kiss with Murata Yui...  I must have watched that scene 15 times :D

and she has a slightly amusing Cannibal Holocaust moment in Mutant Girls Squad, but she's only like 25 seconds in the film...

Cay Izumi I really like, though. If she's still dancing when I get back to Japan I'll try to go see her.

Hah, LOL. My friend is the one that likes her, I prefer Eri Otoguro if we're gonna talk about modern actresses in that genre.

You know I didn't end up ordering it, because I had 4 movies in the shopping cart on hmv.jp but the total was $205 dollars. A bit too much they are still sitting there I don't know what to do haha. But I did end up watching Sukeban Taiman Shoubu now that was an epic movie I loved everything about it. Even the monkey song hah so catchy but one thing I did not like was when they killed those poor dogs to sell the meat. I mean you ask your self I know it is a movie and all but did they really do it cause it looked so real.

Well, I finally scraped some money together and ordered this. Not expecting much. Would still love to hear from anyone who's seen it.
