No deal unless they're the extended versions.

They are definitely the theatrical releases. It says so on the cover. The 3 extras Discs are also on DVDs too. I believe it's 9 Discs, with the last 3 Discs being the obligatory Digital Copies.

In short, I can wait. I read over at High-Def Digit, Jackson is still working on the extras, making sure they're all HD and the like.

No doubt the Extended versions will appear around the time of The Hobbit's cinema release.

Is that in 2011?
I'll wait for the EE's then, make sure everything is HD, I dont see the point in Digital copies.

LOTR: Motion Picture Trilogy:

Pity it has DNR and Part 1 only looks fairly good. It doesn't bode well for the definitive Extended Cut release.

It does. Jackson has said he had nothing to do with these discs, he hated the idea of releasing them and distanced himself from them.

He has already said he will be overseeing the EE when they come out, when HE has the time.

Nope He probibly saw the origanal transfer materials and checked them out, before they were destroyed when messed with and stuck onto Blu Rays. It happens all the time, people see what supposed to be the final thing and say yes thats good, then what comes to discs looks nothing like that as they have been compressed and messed with.

Just because he wasn't involved, it doesn't mean the extended cuts will for sure be better.

Rumour: LOTR EE's out later this year?

http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=4359

IF theyre out this year or early 2010, it could be a "stop-gap" release, BUT if they give them a good transfer AND have the superb extras from the DVD EE's, I would buy.

We're already in "early 2010" :D.

All I care about is the Extended Cuts with good AV. I'm not really bothered about the extras tbh. Hopefully they'll come this year.
