The Clint Eastwood-directed Western, The Pale Rider, has been remastered and is heading to BD in late August. No specs yet.
I hope that they bring out "The Outlaw Josey Wales" and "High Plains Drifter" on BD sometime too.

There's an American BD of the excellent Western, The Proposition, coming too. Excellent price at $20 USD RRP. No specs yet.
Depending on whomever put out the better disc, these guys or Tartan, I'll buy that. Region coding factoring in too.

Thanks Eva. I'll pick up one of the Proposition BDs for sure.

The Tartan UK Proposition BD is out in June with DTS-HD MA, TrueHD or DD5.1. Hopefully this time it will port over all the 2 disc DVD extras. It's likely to be Region Free too.

"First Look Pictures" release of "King of California" is BD Region Free: http://bluray.liesinc.net/. The R1 DVD compares well against the Tartan UK R2, although the latter overall has much better extras:

http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=9500

From that link:

The Proposition' was first released on Blu-ray in the UK by Tartan Video earlier this year.

No it wasn't.

Pale Rider is good but I don't quite consider it a keeper. Clint has done better Westerns. The Warner DVD is ancient and only has a Trailer. I hope they provide some new extras.

Josey Wales is good - apart from the music score - and Pale Rider is underrated.

TV BD set from Lionsgate, of some show called "Mad Men" (I'd never heard of it prior.).

Both the BD and DVD set have an identical RRP of $49.99 USD, real tough choice there.

Warner have announced Season 1 of the terrific DC-aniverse series, Justice League for late August.

80's favourite "Risky Business" is coming in late September, from Warner. That "Hand that Rocks the Cradle" chick was smokin' hot in this film and the Tangerine Dream score was ace. Not a keeper though IMO.

Quote:
Newly-produced bonus features include an audio commentary with director Paul Brickman, producer Jon Avnet, and Cruise, a making-of documentary, and alternate ending.

Warner promises newly-remastered video and audio, although tech specs have not yet been revealed. Stay tuned.

Suggested retail price for the Blu-ray has been set at $28.99.

Mad Men is supposed to be very good. It's had critically good reviews over here and has been on for a few weeks on TV. It's about 1960s Ad. Executives. I've not seen it.

Thanks Salty.

That's the site that also says Die Hard 1 and 2 are Region Free on German BD. It's the only place I've seen it mentioned though.

Thanks. I thought IA2 and IA3 would be. I'll pick up the box set. I've just spotted these handy links:

'There Will Be Blood' Blu-ray Specs, Cover Art Revealed:

http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/show/ ... ealed/1712

Check out the awful cover art, especially when both DVD cover art is so nice. The UK BD will be from Disney and has PCM instead of TrueHD, but otherwise looks the same.

The UK BD only seems to be getting 2 deleted scenes when the USA BD will have 4 though.

Thanks Salty.

They're only unhappy as it has no Lossless Audio but neither does the Paramount HD-DVD, so it's a bit of a silly point:

HD-DVD - DD Plus @ 1.5Mbps
BD - DD5.1 @ 640Kbps

This is a BD so unless it had Lossless audio too what do they expect? DD Plus died with HD-DVD (in reality not from a technical stand point). I suppose Warner could've included 1.5Mbps DTS but that is unlikely.

Besides Zodiac is very talk so 640Kbps DD5.1 will be fine. Not everything needs 1.5Mbps audio. Lossless would've been nice but seeing as the Paramount HD-DVD doesn't have it either I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

It sounds like Lossless wasn't included as Warner put all the extras (in HD) on a single BD50.

If you really want to wait the eventual Paramount BD is likely to have Lossless audio.
