Is the original PS3 though, after the first few batches? I thought they removed that (along with SACD).

Yeah, doesn't change the fact that my PS3 is backwards compatible.

I read the Non-European ones had hardware support and European software, only to be later removed all together.

Apparently the PS3 Slim is a bit slower at loading BDs than the original PS3.
Starting a Blu-ray movie took an average of five seconds longer on the PS3 Slim than on the standard model. The difference was as low as two seconds for “Air Force One” and as high as ten seconds for “The Nightmare Before Christmas”.

Can't say i've noticed much difference in load times-games are definitely quicker..here's a BD load time speed test here

BD loading speed is completely negligible. I'm liking my Slim but still have an older Fat one for backwards compatibility.

Grr! It sounds like they'll be triple packs:

1. Blu-ray
2. DVD
3. Digital Copy

Why they cannot put the Digital Copy on the same disc as the DVD is beyond me. I wouldn't mind so much but they're bound to put the price up.

I mostly buy back catalogue stuff anyways... but it seems an opportunistic policy to me. Having COMBO splashed across the packaging and labelless flipper discs smacks of cheapness and devalues the class of BD.

Now I have BD a combo pack is pointless IMO.

The amount of people who will actually use the DVD/Digital copy is minimal. How many people have a Car DVD Player. I guess people's kids would have a DVD Player though. People who're not interested in BD, won't be buying these. The DVD will be much less.

The thing is, given the higher price. It will be cheaper just to buy the DVD and BD, if you wait. Combos will bound to take much longer to go down in price.

EDIT: Actually I'm pretty sure it's DVD/BD Dual Sided + A separate Digital Copy disc.

The digital copies are a waste of fucking space.

What kind of twerp watches a BD on a monitor or a handheld gizmo rather than a large LCD?

My Reg-A of Taken has a digital copy disc that I will never ever use.

Sitcoms (and the like), Music Videos and Trailers work well on Handheld sized devices but anything you have to get into or is longer than 25-30 minutes, no way. They're not even designed for monitor (most PCs have DVD-Roms drives already) but MP3 Players and PMPs.
