BD clearly looks the best, has different colours to the HKL release.

Agreed. Finally/hopefully a decent picture. I'm not sure about the new colours though but still easily the best. I just wish they'd re-release FOFsaltysam wrote:The BD pisses it image-wise..a clear winner.

Should be the other way round
In fact WOTD looks different to the FS as well.

True but that's not what I meant. I don't really care about that. DTS-HD MA and TrueHD aren't upgrades. Certainly not when Asian studios make them anyway.grim_tales wrote:Should be the other way round

Colours look wrong to me, partlicularly the light sea-green sky in that final comparison.

You can, if anyone with a brain was behind the release. It is not as if they are doing their films justice at all, cheapo half cocked releases are pointless.bradavon wrote:Me too but you can rarely have everything.

Of course but that often doesn't happen happens. They're not cheap though. It looks perfectly fine, actually good to me. I won't be buying it at HK BD prices, it costs way too much.

UE is too bright.
HKL looks like sepia
BD has too much green.
None is perfect but overall I'd be happy ENOUGH with the BD image.

My thoughts exactly and particularly when it comes to WOTD. Both HKLs and the Fortune Star all look pretty rubbish. It's easily the worst looking of the Bruce Lee films.

Agreed - not sure if thats to do with film stock or how it was shot but on all formats - even the old HKL DVDs - Big Boss and FOF were both better transfers than WOTD.

It could be the prints were duplicated by the studio in the 80's and we're seeing transfers from a later generation (poorer) source?

Re: Asian Movies in HD!
Should, but many Asian companies love to treat prints like pure shit and even just destroy them to make space. Nice. Many films will never look good in HD, as frankly no good source will ever be found.

Re: Asian Movies in HD!
it's piss poor when a small french company like wild side can release it in 1080p. Doesn't augur well for The Killer does it?even though it's one cap,it's clear the french release pisses itbradavon wrote:At least it has no remix.

From their facebook page : "Dragon Dynasty Which version of THE KILLER is @Dragon Dynasty using? It's the John Woo-approved cut, but it runs slightly shorter than the Criterion version due to PAL/NTSC master conversion and slight changes to the credits. All the same content is in there, but this will be by far the best looking, best sounding version of THE KILLER ever seen."
