Japanese culture is MASSIVELY ;) different than our own.

I'm sure Hungfist can back that up.

just by a quick thought I can think of a few...

one would be that there never was the same hysteria towards movie violence in Japan as in many other countries. In the UK BBFC was banning and cutting films and politician telling these are the devil's product... doesn't exactly help kids handle movies in a grown up way. In Japan, perhaps because of the samurai culture living in pop entertainment, movie and video game violence has never been that much of a big deal or forbidden fruit (might be an interesting comparison to alcohol consumption in Italy and France... even kids are allowed alcohol there, and don't have any problems).

another thing might be the traditional expectations and pressure set by the Japanese society to its members not to cause any shame to their families. In western culture everybody is pretty much encouraged to Rambo to make their own future at any cost. A Japanese kid would think twice before imitating Bruce Lee movies in the class as he would know it will get him in trouble, which in turn will get his family in trouble, and that would, in worst case, make him want to kill himself (one of the downsides in Japanese culture).

Like all societies, Japan also sets the ideal that the citicens are expected / wished to follow. But due to Japan's strong racism towards anyone who differs from others there's a stronger incentive to follow this ideal. In the western culture, again, no one cares if you go bonkers (as long as you don't perform a school massacre).

just a few thoughts and points, not meaning to make a real argument here.

Appropriately re-titled John Rambo, this new cut is far superior to the theatrical version. With new additions and some minor snippets, the film, as a whole, feels much more sincere and less gratuitous. It also benifits from the slower pacing and added dialogue that would've made the film better in the first place.Thumbs Up!

WOW! Thanks. The theatrical cut definitely feels gratuitous. None of it I minded, except for when Sly slit that guys throat. Was that necessary?

You're asking Hungfist to compare The UK to Japan?

You don't get that in your part of Scandinavia?

Good point about families. That's such an Asian thing, that we simply don't have in The West. It's so strong in all the Asian countries I've been to. I imagine (and am just making an educated guess), it's even stronger in Japan than most Asian countries. There is much more discipline and respect for your parents in Asia than Western countries. I'm not saying we don't have it but it's different.

Yes, in Finland we have much of the same problems as you have in the UK. We had our dark 80's with video censorship, too.

And we still have major drinking problems. Japan's got some of these too. They are less visible due to cultural things (I might describe as more "indoor" in the lack of better word)... the drinking parties are something you can't really turn down when invited (would be unpolite) and recently a few high school freshmen have been drinked (is that word, like poisoned?) to death by accident by their friends.

And the family orientation has its downsides too. Believe me, it's gonna give gray hairs to anyone trying to date a "good girl"... and many of the parents are fucking idiots who think they own their children and have the right to pursue their own happiness by making their children live the life they (=parent) wanted for themselves... like those people who buy pets and then put clothes on them cause it's fun and cute... no matter that the pet thinks about having wear some fucking fashion jacket.

Many years since i've seen this,an enjoyable enough romp with a nice twist of darkness (hence the 15 cert) The blu-ray won't wow anyone but it's solid enough.Phoebe Cates

Inception: 5/5

Exciting and tense thriller with a dose of HUH?! :? Excellent film. Sometimes it was so weird I wasnt sure what was real etc, makes you think though.
So did DiCaprio's wife kill herself "in real life" because he told her how to escape from a dream, and she thought the real world was fake, and vice versa?
Has Nolan ever made a bad film?

:D Maybe Inception is a 4.5/5, I dunno but it's an excellent film also.

Apparently everyone does every night but you just don't always remember them. I think there are some medications that prevent dreaming though so that could be it.

Yeah, she'd gotten so used to their dream world and so much time had passed in it (practically a lifetime), that when they decided to leave it and come back to reality, her mind couldn't take it and she thought reality was still a dream.

Lately I've always tried to remember them and then try as I might, I forget the exact details :D Also isnt it weird that when you're dreaming you behave as if it's real? :?

Rescue Dawn (2006)
Beautifully told and expertly Directed PoW drama starring Christian Bale. Pretty much story driven but well made and acted enough to make the Blu blind-buy worth it. Less directorial (stylistic) flare than I was hoping for but Werner Herzog still managed to make me laugh out loud despite the seriousness of the based-on-actual-events story.

Captivating, exciting, memorable and impressive, and a definite keeper. 95% Luckystars Heat™

Grim, if you want to analyse your dreams then keep at it, as the more you pay attention to your dreams, the more they come to you. If you keep making dream diaries you will see, and you'll be able to experience lucid dreaming. The trick to telling if you're in a dream is by looking at a clock, it'll never make sense in a dream! P.S. I hope this comment makes sense, it's taken so much effort because I've just got home from a night out wasted lol sorry x

Hahaha I hate it when I go online after a night out, never know what I might type. That is surprisingly legible though, so the advice stands ;)
