If there's a supplier who let's you return said item because the sound is bad, that'd be good. What's HKFlix like in that field?

We wouldn't have such a decent "Rocky IV" if the real Ivan Drago didn't feel like taking risks.

Finally watched DD's PS2 and comparing to my IVL disc, the image looks damn near identical. I actually think DD's looks a bit better than IVL's as far as contrast levels and sharpness goes. There is a bit of grain here and there, but certainly nothing as bothersome as PS1. Though I do notice the pinkifying in the screencaps here, its not quite as bad as some people claim. Besides, JC's face is always pink anyways LOL! Bottom line: DD's PS2 is a solid release.

It's funny. It seems for once Harvey has a good agenda in releasing uncut versions in the original language. It's just he hired some clowns for the restoration team. The irony of it all!

Umm...okay. HKL's was crap. I say stick with DD or IVL's. They're almost the same.

At least HKL used the original theatrical version.

I suppose that's the one good thing I can say about it.

Is there the option to here the PS2 theme song on the DD DVD? That's the only reason I've held onto my HKL

I personally prefer the shorter cut too. I think FS went with the longer Japanese version simply because it was better preserved than the domestic HK version. Or something like that.

I'm sure it's because that's what Fortune Star gave them.

If DD insisted on the theatrical cut then FS would have had to go back and create a new HD master for it.

Not like DD couldn't afford it, mind.

Most of the fans (not all) are always demading longer cuts of these films so I guess FS felt they did the fans a favor by putting out a longer cut.

FS wrongly did the Japanese version anyway, they got the incorrect ending.

They do have the HK version in a non-remastered form. I'm sure having 2 versions would be appealing so I'm guessing they wouldn't have a problem.

I can always ask Peter Poon.

How does the Japanese version really end?
AFAIK the FS "Japanese version" has the Police Story theme over the credits (instead of the other song) plus a different set of outtakes :?

I believe it uses the HK ending. Can't be sure, so can anyone confirm?

Now you mention it I'm sure it uses that ending (with Maggie and Jackie admiring the fireworks).

Easily the IVL wins. It's the perfect balance between the two other transfers.

There's a new custom of the theatrical cut at ADC. Video source is from the HK BD, original audio mix from an old VHS that apparently has clitches that the uploader tried to fix but only few remain, and the subs from HKL DVD.

I'm thinking of getting it but is there a difference on the subtitles between HKL and DD?

Sounds good in theory... but without seeing/hearing the finished result the quality of the fan editing remains an unknown quantity.

Funnily enough I have a rip of the IVL DVD and was thinking of trying something similar myself. This may have saved me the bother.

Let us know how it plays...

Christ, that HKL disc was a disaster. We sure put up with a lot from HKL in 2002 - not even Fortune Star would pull those kind of monkey shines these days.
