If you have the R2 I wouldn't bother switching as there appears to be little - if any - real improvement.

Hey Sam, the original sound mix present in any form on the R1 Platinum (eg has a DTS or DD5.1 track which is really a glorified matrixed DD2.0 surround track)?

I forgot all about this one. Agreed the new Remaster definitely look better. Nice one thanks Salty.

What the audio options? How does the new DD5.1 Remix compare? I presume the DTS is the old remix? You can see pictures of the packaging here:

It's a keep case inside a slip-case.

I'm there, one more extra but much more importantly finally a proper Scarface 5.1 experience + as shown above an improved transfer:
Finally making it's debut on DVD, the new audio comes in much stronger than the previous version. The sound effects have been redone with a fury, especially the hundreds of gunshots. The bass is booming and the film's music sounds great.

How much did you pay for it Salty and from where?

The cheapest is £12 from DVD Pacific which is a bit pricey but I'm not waiting on this one so will get it regardless.

Nope. If you want as near to the original mix as possible you'll need to pick up the UK R2 or R4 original 1 disc DVD.

I'm well pleased both the DD5.1 and DTS are Enhanced, according to the press release only the DD5.1 was Remastered.

Brad wanders off to order :D . Cheers

p.s - So are you going to sell/trade your Anniversary Edition? I highly suspect mine will be going on eBay.

DVD Pacific to the UK: $24.78
Deep Discount DVD to the UK: $24.09

I went with DVD Pacific as I think they have the edge on customer services and crucially speed of delivery. 69 cents is only about 30p and after conversion won't be mean anything.

Grrr 9 days after ordering and it's still on back order. DVD Pacific usually ship much quicker than this. An e-mail is in order.

"Push it to the limit!"

The game rules, by the way :D It follows a 'what if?' scenario, in that Tony Montana turns around and kills the bloke with the shotgun and manages to make his escape from his mansion.

There must be a shortage of this as both DDD and DVD Pacific don't have stock.

I bet the games great, odd it took so long.

It's STILL not in Stock at DVD Pacific or DDD.

It's now 13 days since I placed the order. I'll give it a few more days and if no joy cancel and go with Amazon.com who do have it in stock.

The price is virtually the same anyway:

DVD Pacific: $24.78
Amazon.com: 26.74

My DVD finally arrived today, almost a month after ordering it.

Like Reservoir Dogs it's the DVD they should've released originally and 3rd time lucky they got it right.

The previous SE looked almost identical to the original 1 discs DVD (I don't think it was remastered at all) and the 5.1 tracks were also almost identical to the DD4.0 Surround on the original disc.

This time however it looks LOADS better and has a stonking new 5.1 soundtrack. The new effect sound a "little" out of place but crucially don't sound harsh or over the top, they fit in well.

Comparing the gun fight at the end you now hear not just lots more gunfire form the rears but the fronts are more focused too. The old 5.1 soundtracks also sound really shrill in comparison.

If you detest new sound effects or remixes in Stereo material get the original 1 disc DVD otherwise this new SE is the way to go.
