Indeed, she is heavily influenced by Mariah Carey et al (IMO).

I didn't say I liked them just that they have talent. Most of the winners of these music talents shows have some level of talent.
No, it was his idea for them to produced a record.
I think we can safely say the heads of The WWF wanted it just as much. The WWF was around long, long before Mr. Cowell came along.
So you judge quality based on sales then?
No, we WEREN'T talking about quality :?.
90% of the contestants on the X Factor can't sing so it's a safe bet.
Ergo the winners (mostly) can :D.
And I'm The Pope!!
Well you have some twisted views like the pope, maybe you are :D.

And? So many singers sound similar to other artists.

Don't confuse lack of talent for your dislike for her.

That's true Brad, every singer has influence from other singers I'm sure.

Yes, it's sooooo true. Hulk Hogan always wanted to be a pop star. That's why he got into wrestling in the hopes that it would lead to a music career. But he was stiffled by his muscles, damn them! Thank God for Cowell.

I was. That's my criteria. What's yours?

Sure, the winners mostly can sing, at least a bit. But then so can loads of people you meet everyday. A little practice and I could probably cut a half-decent record. Doesn't make me a sensational new talent worth a million pound contract.

No, really. I AM The Pope. I'm posting from The Vatican. On your knees heathen scum. Ten hail marys.

Not the good ones. Who sounds like Elvis, Lennon, Sinatra, Stipe, Mercury, Cobain, etc...?

I don't dislike her personally. I'm sure she's a nice girl - and rather attractive too. But her singing level is basic warbling of the kind that Carey has been doing for almost 20 years. She's competant at best, but hardly this great new talent we keep hearing about.

Just that Cowell doesn't know about music, no less, no more :D.

Well they'd be talented too then.

True but it's expecting too much for everyone to be as talented as them. They're in the minority. It doesn't stop the masses who sound similar being talented.

Personally I never said she was. I just say she's "talented", nothing more, nothing less. The fact she can sing, means she is talented in my book.
