I've just heard AMLT - single version. Leona sounds much better on the single version than she did on the live show - obviously, the start was very like Mariah ca. 1990's though.

Did anyone see the song sung with all 12 (?) finalists? I didnt see Kerry there. The song wasn't very good - some American We Are The World-type guff that just sounded really cheesy.
Ben got a massive cheer though when he came on ;)

Hey,

Ray and Ben have released albums - Ray's is swing/Sinatra stuff, and Ben's is rock covers + some original stuff I would guess).

Ray:

Heard a bit of Ben's album in Woolies the other day. Didn't sound too bad actually, Somebody To Love was pretty good, though he wasn't singing acapella so the novelty was lost.

Is anyone watching Series 5?

I wasn't surprised to see Bad Lashes go out, Girlband will be soon to follow, JLC while good aren't going to win, no chance.

The format works completely against bands. It's hard enough to find one decent singer, let alone 4 or 5. This works against bands ever having a chance to win. They should bring back Popstars, which was a better format for pop bands. I'd like another decent girl band (Girls Aloud are good) but it's not going to be Girlband.

Alexandra is probably my favourite to win, Ruth Lorenzo is so god damn sexy!

They've got a hard task to actually be successful though. Only Leona Lewis, Girls Aloud, Will Young and Lemar have actually been successful. 4 acts over 10 series (X Factor, Pop Idol, Popstars and Fame Academy) isn't exactly doing well.

Leona and Girls Aloud are good otherwise meh! The trouble is you cannot create/force talent, which all these shows try to do.

Shane Ward was successfull too... the fact that I know his name indicates this as I really couldn't give a crap about these sort of programs.

The two girl bands were poor IMO, and thats being nice. It Must Have Been Love is a classic but the girl's voices were all over the place. Either screechy or flat.
Alexandra has a great voice and looked fantastic in that dress :D
Rachel - great voice, wrong song choice. Why was she wearing a business suit? And her "dancers" did nothing? :?
Eoghan was a bit quiet but much better than I thought he would be.
Daniel was a nice bloke but very "cruise ship" as Simon said.
Scott's song is a 60's classic but also a very naff choice of song for XF. As Simon said it sounded like a holiday camp performance.
Not the song I expected for Ruth but she sang well. Damn she is hot :D

True but how successful? Gareth Gates was even successful for a while.

p.s - Rachel wasn't wearing a business suit.

I think so, more of a going out for the evening suit. Us men have to make do with jeans, trousers, shorts, t-shirts and shirts. Women have 10 times the choice of clothes to choose from.

Can't believe Ruth was in the bottom 2 :x Who the fuck is voting for Daniel and Eoghan? At best Eoghan was mediocre, he was so shaky when singing without any music, really poor. But he stayyed in because he's "cute".
Daniel was crap, I'm sure he's a nice bloke and I have sympathy for his sad story but he's a pub singer FFS :(
Ruth's performance of Purple Rain was amazing, Girlband were shite, justice was served when they went.

Eoghan was awful, utter lame rubbish. I only caught the end.

I didn't see Ruth's performance. Ruth singing in Spanish is hot but it would get boring if she did it all the time. It's not hurt other Latin singers but crucially they've not tried to make it in The UK. The UK isn't exactly a Latin influenced country, like say America.

Ruth is so hot. She could sing like a warbling dead cat and I wouldn't care :D. None of this little girl, thin like a rake nonsense. She's how a real woman should be.

Agreed :D
Although Girlband sang like warbling cats :D Simon was a cowardly twat for doing what he did, he said he was going to judge on what he saw and it was so obvious Ruth blew Girlband out of the water! He didnt even compliment her excellent vocals or her performance!
