Park Chan-Wook (Oldboy, Thirst) has a new film out in the U.S. in limited theaters. I got to see the film this afternoon. Based on Sarah Waters' novel "Fingersmith", the film is set in Japanese-occupied Korea where a con artist, played by Kim Tae-Ri, is hired by a fraudulent nobleman played by Ha Jung-Woo, to become the handmaiden for a Japanese noble lady, played by Kim Min-Hee. The film is an erotically-charged meshing of storytelling a la Rashomon and a style akin to Brokeback Mountain. I reviewed the film on my blog:
