That looks terrible, doesn't it?* Looks like Yoko Mihara is in it as well.

No, I agree. Some super cute girls and very colorful and funny. I don't speak Japanese so there was that to deal with, but I like it more each time I look at it.

Re: Films you have on DVD and not yet watched...

I was initially underwhelmed by THREE PRETTY DEVILS, but it has grown on me! Nice PQ too. All the SUKEBAN movies are good IMO, even the fifth one which was kind of a departure. Love the seventh one. I'm also head over heels in love with DELINQUENT GIRL BOSS: BALLAD OF YOKOHAMA HOODS, or whatever the...

I would have guessed it was in "Ultra Stereo" like F13 6 and so many late 80s horrors. The end credits should tell the tale.

Re: Classic Japanese Exploitation (pinky violence & pink)

Well, I had a look at THREE PRETTY DEVILS. It had some things going for it. Yoko Ichiji and Junko Natsu, for two. I'm guessing the third P.D. is Reiko Ohara? Not too familiar with her. Also that girl from GIANT ROBO is in it. Yumiko Katayama, I think. ALSO that transvestite singer from one of the DE...

Cool! It should look about the same as a 1996 episode of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS.

Re: Japanese cult cinema thread

Tried posting this earlier but I guess it didn't "take." I won't get my DVDs for two or three weeks, so you have plenty of time to "scoop" me. I imagine 3PD will be pretty tame stuff, as it pre-dates even the DELINQUENT GIRL BOSS movies and came out around the time of STRAY CAT R...

I don't know why I thought that THREE PRETTY DEVILS was coming out at the end of the month. Apparently it's out! I ordered it and one of the FURYO BANCHO movies with Yoko Mihara. Hazzah!

And I'm shocked to hear veteran b-film viewers like Marshall to complain about the lack of humor. IMHO, the fucking disease that plagues modern exploitation tributes is the damn post modern humor. The good old exploitation flms are so cool because they are not intentionally funny... well, they are ...

Re: Machete

A) The bloodspray looked like CGI. Can I say "fuck that" on this forum? If not, I apologize. B) Humorless. Maybe it's just a question of the content they chose for the "real" trailer, but the original commercial from GRINDHOUSE looked like it could be a fun tongue-in-cheek romp; ...

Re: Classic Japanese Exploitation (pinky violence & pink)

Well, I don't want to be one of those tiresome people who repeats the same crap at every board on the internet, but it would appear that a US company intends to re-release the second Female Convict Scorpion movie (JAILHOUSE 41) on October 26th. This title has been haunted by sub-par releases, so hop...

Sorry, I hope that didn't sound like an attempt to one-up you. The STRAY CAT ROCK series has some pretty tame entries and are not really "sukeban." I suspect THREE PRETTY DEVILS will be subdued as well. As you say, it's a very early entry, and I think Junko Natsu never really got into the ...
