Re: What general film/series have you just seen.. marks out

Les Demoniaques (1974) - 3.5/5 My first Jean Rollin film and I liked his style (and the hot pirate bitch), looking forward to checking out more. Oddly, this was my first Rollin (by accident) as well, and it blew my mind. Hopefully you like sexy vampires because he's got a lot of them on-deck for you.

Re: Japanese cult cinema thread

Someone will have to let me know how MELODY OF REBELLION is. Maybe a trailer will turn up? Nice to see BLIND WOMAN'S CURSE getting remastered--it needs it.

Re: What general film/series have you just seen.. marks out

Alice, Sweet, Alice aka Communion (1976-USA) ** Competantly directed and acted horror mixes the religious and evil child sub-genres but the plot doesn't make a lick of sense. Not to be combative, but it made sense to me. Also has a terrific score and the actress playing the title character is amazi...

How is the set? There sweeties are not available for rental ( :banghead: ) so purchase is my only option if I wish to see them... but the box set seems to be more expensive than the three stand alone releases http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v716/HungFist/Hung3/fm.jpg And the box set doesn't seem ...

Wow, imagine a world where you could walk into a store and see this on the shelf. American retailers would never carry anything like this anymore.

Re: Japanese cult cinema thread

Had a difficult time of it, but finally found the GIRLS' JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL films and boxed set up for pre-order at Yesasia. Was wondering if anyone knew whether they would charge me immediately when I order it, or wait until it ships. The latter is industry standard, but there are a few crapweasels...

Re: Classic Japanese Exploitation (pinky violence & pink)

As for Kagawa and the music, unfortunately I can't remember anymore. Lol. I watched some clips and this movie is not for me. Thank you for your response, though. As for Chiba, couldn't pick him out of a lineup. He may be quite a fellow, but he is not in movies that interest me. Kind of like that gu...

Re: Japanese cult cinema thread

This pretty much wraps up my Japanese exploitation want list (until I find out about more buried treasure) although I am still smarting over the cancellation of BANKAKU ROCK. Was there ever a VHS release? Surely some enterprising young go-getter would like to download this film and sell me a burnt d...

Kurotogaki now offers subtitled boots of SUKEBAN 6 and 7. I bought the Toei R2 DVDs a year or so ago and am very excited to finally seem them translated. 7, in particular, I really enjoy. Hopefully they will move on to fansubbing the TERRIFYING GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL series next.

Received KEIKEN and it's not bad. Would be better if I understood Japanese. Yoko Mihara has a pretty big role, and Yukie Kagawa plays a suit-wearing lesbian. Reiko Oshida pretty much just sings that song and splits.

Well, I finally scraped some money together and ordered this. Not expecting much. Would still love to hear f...

Speaking of pinky horror, did anyone ever release Kazuhiko Yamaguchi's 1975 were-cat prostitute movie MYSTERIOUS CAT & TURKISH BATH? (I've seen the Japanese title listed as KAIBYO TURKO BURO, but I'm not sure that's even possible phonetically in Japanese.) Edit: I guess it is. http://movie.douba...

I have never found Mie Hama attractive. Kumi Mizuno, yes. Akiko Wakabyashi, HELL yes. Just a matter of opinion, of course. To Bradavon's point, I would not turn down any of them, including now.

A lovely post Mr. FireTiger. I too caught the Japan bug when I was a kid. Godzilla, Speed Racer, Johnny Sokko, Kimba, Gigantor--could not get enough. Even used to watch untranslated episodes of Lion Maru on the local "international" TV station. Huge fan of the 70s in general as well, so wh...

Re: Films you have on DVD and not yet watched...

Here's a bit of info in Japanese, plus a couple of screencaps http://blog.goo.ne.jp/langberg/e/71ee8a23e21e73cddeb9cba62a99be04 I "translated" this into "English" and that was no help, although it does mention go-go dancing. Damn it, I want this. The screencaps are meh, however.
