Wild Sex Gang (Kyohashi Sex Group) (Japan, 1973) DVD - 2/5 I'm not one to buy a bootleg, unless it's something that is really, really impossible to find... and has subtittles... and looks decent... and is cheap. Well this was all of those.... You chose a bad time to buy it as Toei will be screening...

Shimauma HK DVD coming in January

I don't know what's the censorship situation like in HK like these days. Would this be cut? It's pretty damn violent.

(Maruhi) Jorô zankoku iro-jigoku ((秘)女郎残酷色地獄) (Japan, 1973) [35mm] - 2/5 This Roman Porno film has, for some reason, been neglected in English language writing to the extent that it doesn't seem to have an English title. The loss is not big. Decently acted and produced, but unimaginatively directed...

Exposed (Sweden,1971) [DVD] - 2.5/5 Early Christina Lindberg film serves as a passable 70s Sweden zeitgeist, despite a lacklustre storyline and a 5 minute Tarzan movie clip seen during a movie theatre scene being the most exciting part of the film. What the film does have is Christina with her natu...

Re: What asian film/series have you just seen.. marks out of 5

I should re-watch the series some day. I recall liking the 2nd movie the best, but I was a huge Oshida fan back then so that may have had something to do with it... Erotic Liaisons (エロチックな関係) (Japan, 1992) [DVD] - 2/5 More of a curiosity than a good film, this is Koji Wakamatsu's adaptation of a Fre...

Re: Lowlife Love (Eiji Uchida, 2015)

I saw this last year when it was in theatres. It was kind of good, but I wasn't really enthusiastic about it. I've grown a bit tired of these modern indie films by young filmmakers who seem the be making movies for themselves, about themselves, clueless of what other filmmakers have done before them...

Silent Running (USA, 1972) [DVD] - 3/5 The world's last surviving greenhouses float through the space (attached to a spaceship) in a thematically interesting, slow paced hippie sci-fi film. The human characters - all 4 of them - can be a bit frustrating at times, but the film gets better towards th...

If you allow me to repeat my comment from another board... ...I guess Bey can now start doing commentaries for the Groper Train films. Sad to hear about this. I have fond memories of listening to his HKL commentaries. He had the knowledge and the delivery in one package. Undressing at an audition, t...

Misumisou (Liverleaf) (Eisuke Naito, 2018)

New film by Eisuke Naito, Liverleaf (Misumisou) , will be hitting Japanese theaters in April 2018. Based on a novel. Naito says he was asked to helm it at the last moment (1 month before filming started). The star is some 16 year old girl named Anna Yamada. Seems to have an R15 rating attached. No t...

Prince of Darkness (USA, 1987) [DVD] - 4/5 Atmospheric, under-rated John Carpenter film tackles satanic horror thru science. Not quite among his masterworks - the parts with possessed people taking out their victims in slasher fashion feel a bit lame considering Satan himself is lurking behind the ...

Re: Colonel Panics (Cho Jinseok, Yoshihiro Nishimura) (2016)

True. I thought I read long time ago that a French (?) BD was being prepared, but I couldn't find anything with a quick search now... Or perhaps it was German? It's the kind of film that you could imagine hitting BD in Germany. A lot of these lower budget Japanese genre films seem to come out there...

Reiko Ike has a small role as a henchman's wife, who gets offered up to a wrestler as a prize. Luckily for her, he doesn't last to take advantage of it, and it seems she finally has a role (albeit an incredibly small one) where she keeps her clothes on. But no, she's later offered up to another hen...

Re: Classic Japanese Exploitation (pinky violence & pink)

I had a dream a few nights ago. It was 1983 and I was at the Nikkatsu studios, possibly as an actor or advisor. They were filming a Finland themed Roman Porno. Jun Miho arrived the set, looking sick. She had caught cold. I told her that she should go home to rest. I said I'd tell Nikkatsu I'll be av...

Jason X (USA, 2001) [DVD] - 1.5/5 Friday the 13th meets Alien with a bit of Star Trek. Jason is the Alien. This actually has a pretty cool first 10 minutes. The Hoodlum Soldier (兵隊やくざ) (Japan, 1965) [DVD] - 3/5 While Japan's militaristic past may remain a touchy subject in politics, there are few nations that have made mainstream war movies as self-critical as Japan. Re: Born (リボーン) (Japan, 2016) [DCP] - 2.5/5 There's a great sense of disappointment when a film is so keen on its original concept that it forgets some of the basics of action filmmaking.
