Re: Best blurays to pick up while in South-Korea!?

Hi Grim, missed you!

I'm OK. A bit weak and sick at the moment, but working at that. Girlfriend wanted to visit Korea, so here we are :) How are you, and how's the board been!? Missed any hissyfits from Brad, or dirty Japanese girl-stories from Hung!?

Best blurays to pick up while in South-Korea!?

Hi guys, long time no see. Been in Hong Kong the last 11 months orso, but heading out for a couple of days in South Korea (Seoul). Planning to pick up a DVD/BR for My Sassy Girl, the Director's Cut (only version with original music), and MAYBE The Good, the Bad and The Weird, considering it's the on...

Re: Play.com ceasing retail operations in March

Sad news, as it was the e-tailer that pretty much convinced me to get a credit card and start online shopping. That said, they kinda lost me once we European customers could only pay with euros instead of pounds, with them using a very poor exchange-rate. The nail in the coffin was when they started...

Re: HMV's last stand?

Here in Hong Kong I always like going into a HMV and browse around. Prices are reasonable, with often some bargains.

Didn't use the website much. Those prices were pretty high and compared to amazon/zavvi not worth it.

Re: The Chinese Zodiac - Jackie Chan

No, it's his Ip Man movie :) Which looks pretty good judging from the latest trailer.

I'm not expecting a great martial arts movie. I'm just expecting a very good Wong Kar Wai movie. If it also delivers in the martial arts department, that will be a plus for me :)

Re: The Chinese Zodiac - Jackie Chan

I was never impressed with the trailer TBH, and even now that I'm in Hong Kong and it's playing in theaters right now, I'm much more looking forward to Wong Kar Wai's The Grandmasters, which is coming out in 2 weeks orso. There's also a Chow Yun Fat movie playing, as well as a The Flying Guillotines...

Re: What Have You Just Ordered or Received?

Now that I'll be in Hong Kong for the coming year, we had to invest a bit in our living room, so last week we bought a new Full HD Panasonic Plasma (which are very hard to find in HK, but luckily we managed to find a good one for less than 600 euro). Yesterday we went out and picked up a PS3 for our...

Re: The off-topic topic

The shittiest part for me was when they hadn't found anything wrong inside. At this point, I just want them to find the cause of my problem so we can fix it, or at least we can give it a name, instead of just telling people: "Nobody knows!" I went to a chinese doctor 1-2 weeks orso ago, and he said ...

Re: Rumble in the Bronx UK Blu Ray - opinions?

There's a bit where the kid in the wheelchair is shown playing on a Game Gear or something.. with no game in it :D It's an asian kid, so the Game Gear is probably modded :P Anyway, I liked Rumble. It has a nice pace/flow to it. I disliked the mediocre dub and it not having a proper end-fight becaus...

Re: What Have You Just Ordered or Received?

Received: The Raid (US Blu-ray) When you select the original music, it uses the original title card of 'The Raid' too! Nice. As it should, but I agree it's a good touch. I truly wish the European and probably asian versions hadn't been fucked up with just having the US cut. I'm in Hong Kong right n...

Re: Fist in Japan

The last few years it's been really sad news when it comes to Japan and these forms of censorship. Not just the banning of video games and other entertainment, but also prohibiting people with tattoos from going to the beach and now this... It's a bit sad and tragic to be honest, and hopefully a new...

Isn't that called an colonoscopy!? I've had a few of those, trying to figure out what's wrong with me (stomach-issues). TBH, the actual procedure is mostly just embarrassing. The worst part for me was the days before where you had to drink some horrible stuff which would 'clean out' your system, mea...

Re: Cine Asia in administration

For me the reason is very simple. As a long time asian movie fan, I've been burned with cut incomplete butchered releases far too often. This means that the whole 'impulse buy' thing has completely disappeared. Now when I see a DVD/BR in the shop that looks interest, I'll just remember the name and ...

Re: What general film/series have you just seen.. marks out

I thought LOTR was on Yi's bucket list. Turns out he's only going to Asia. That can't be worse that death? I actually watched The Bucket List last week. Nice movie. 4 out of 5! I'm not sure I even have a bucket list. I'm not all that ambitious in that I don't seem to have certain experiences or goa...

Saw this last month. Good, though some of the fights dragged a bit too long and started to lose intensity. I don't really want to complain, though, as the film managed honest action with decent tech credits, which is a remarkably rare combination in these Expendables 2 days. The Shinoda score was m...

life's too short to care about money imo,if i have it i'll spend it  I'm the complete opposite. I don't really know how the gaming stuff goes. With movies and music the government is taking some drastic actions to actually put people in jail for downloading illegally. For movies and music, though, rental stores are remarkably popular... and cheap. Tsutaya frequently has old releases for 100 y...
