The Manitou (Canada/USA, 1978) [BD] - 4/5 Completely insane premise of a woman's neck getting pregnant with the evil 400 year old Native American medicine man's reincarnated fetus is treated 100% deadly serious in William Girdler's film. It starts outrageous enough but nothing can prepare anyone fo...

Re: Classic Japanese Exploitation (pinky violence & pink)

I can't find any mention of it on Nikkatsu's Roman Porno website yet but it looks like there'll be two more batches of BD/DVDs released through Happinet on August 2nd and November 2nd! Both batches will consist of 2 BDs and 6 DVDs plus a number of cheap re-releases of films previously available on G...

I like BEWITCHED but I liked it more when Kuei Chih Hung himself basically remade it as THE BOXER'S OMEN. Also thanks for reviewing the HEX "sequel". I've been curious about those for a while and so far I think I'll gladly stay ignorant.

Scissor Dick (本当はエログロいイソップ寓話 シザーチンP) (Japan, 2018) [DVD] - 2.5/5 A highly anticipated film for me and ultimately a disappointment. Director Naoyuki Tomomatsu again uses much of the running time for insane rants about misandry and how anti-molestation laws will lead to mankind's extinction. There's ...

Wet Lust: Opening the Tulip (濡れた欲情・ひらけ!チューリップ) (Japan, 1975) [DVD] - 2.5/5 A Tatsumi Kumashiro film that was recently released on DVD by Happinet. Banned Book: Carnal Prayer Mat (発禁 肉蒲団) (Japan, 1975) [VoD] - 4/5 While this was ostensibly directed by Nobuaki Shirai, it's screenwriter (and actor) Atsushi Yamatoya's influence and fingerprints that are all over this film. Beating Fan Ho (Yu Pui Tsuen, 1987) and Michael Mak (Sex und Zen, 1991) by...

Bianca Overstudy (Naoyuki Tomomatsu, 2019)

http://i67.tinypic.com/zwl3zo.jpg Naoyuki Tomomatsu's next movie, following on the heels of SCISSOR DICK (2018) , will be an adaptation of Yasutaka Tsutsui's novel BIANCA OVERSTUDY, which was first published in 2012 and was at one point in talks of getting an anime adaptation as well. Yasutaka Tsut...

I have 7 of their discs so far. Only BTN has the scaled down pamphlet. That must be something they started doing recently. I skipped all the Wakamatsu reissues of films I already owned.

Fist of the North Star (北斗の拳) (Japan, 1986) [VoD] - 3.5/5 Classic violence anime in post apocalypse setting, easily enjoyed even by a non-anime fanatic such as me. Kenshiro is basically an animated Bruce Lee gone into Sonny Chiba mode I always thought Kenshiro mostly looks like Sylvester Stallone. ...

Re: The Hisayasu Sato thread

There's more to Sato and the titles for his films... If you take a look at Sato's filmography on his Wikipedia page you will find that each film has a "release title" and also what is listed as "Sato's title". I was never sure if those titles really originated from Sato or if some fan made them up. ...

http://i66.tinypic.com/5dnkhc.jpg Office Lady Rape: Disgrace! (OL暴行汚す, 1986) was Sato's 4th film as a director. Anyway, the label (DIG) deserves all the support as they've been putting out some seriously interesting films. I second this! DIG (DIMENTION) have unearthed some real gems over the past two years, including previously unavailble films by Koji Wakamatsu and Atsushi Yamatoya. I got this one too, just...

Love Disease (愛の病) (Japan, 2018) [DVD] – 2.5/5 Kota Yoshida's latest is one of those everybody's-a-piece-of-shit adult dramas. Saori Seto stars as a young woman who runs away from her deadbeat boyfriend with her newborn daughter. She moves back in with her less-than-welcoming family and starts work...

The House That Jack Built (Denmark / France / Sweden / Germany / Belgium, 2018) [BD] – 4/5 Von Trier's latest is overlong at 2,5 hours but so goddamn pitch-black funny and filled with top-notch gore that it hardly matters. Was it this film that had an on-screen text something like "only 14 years old, and she's got such big..." in the shower scene? Or was that part 2? It was "Middle School, 3rd Year, 15 years old" but yes, that was in this film. The only one in the series that had actual (topless) nudity. http:/...

Girls' Junior High School: Too Young to Play Like This (女子学園 おとなの遊び) (Japan, 1970) [DVD] - 3/5 Directed by Akira Kato with Noboru Tanaka serving as assistant director, this third entry in the series is easily the sleaziest of the bunch, while still very much a youth film/comedy. One failed recording, one accidentally-destroyed-by-the-gf recording, and a two month wait for a re-broadcast later... Ha! I was wondering what's kept you from reviewing this one. Great to hear! I mean, I was assuming as much, since they included English subtitles and it'd make little sense to do that and then region lock the disc, but it's still good to hear you got a disc that's playing for you.

Now, where's the home video release for VIOLENCE VOYAGER?!?

Alita: Battle Angel (USA, 2019) [DCP] - 4/5 A real pleasant surprise, this one! A Hollywood manga/anime adptation one doesn't have to make a ton of excuses for because it mostly gets it right.
